We are increasingly receiving packages of instruments without any return details or just an address on the outside of the package which can often not be related to
who sent them.
We will now not process any package that arrives without any details enclosed.
Any parcels that arrive without any details will be held until claimed.To claim instruments we will need to be emailed the tracking number and return address. They will then be processed as normal. Thank you for your cooperation with this
CHRISTMAS HOLIDAY DATES
The last day we will be accepting instruments for sharpening over the Christmas holiday
will be Friday 19th December 2025 this will ensure we can process them and put them in the return post before we close on Tuesday 23rd December 2025.
We will then re open on Monday 5th January 2026
Between the 22nd December 2025 and the 4th January 2026
there will be no staff on site to accept deliveries

WHO WE ARE
May I introduce myself my name is Richard Rudge. I am the owner and specialist instrument sharpener of R. Rudge Instrument Sharpening. Prior to starting my business I was employed by Ash Dentsply for 24 years making and sharpening high quality dental instruments. During the last ten years at Ash I also re-sharpened instruments.So if your instruments were sent to Ash I would have re-sharpened them. For the past 18 years my company has been providing sharpening services for hundreds of Dentists and Hygienists throughout the UK and Ireland. We are now pleased to be able to offer direct to you the same comprehensive quality service at a very cost effective price.
Our Service
We understand the need Dentists and Hygienists have for sharp, defined cutting edges. This is especially important for Scaler, Curette and Excavator points.
We believe we can save you money, time and energy. We can achieve this by helping you properly maintain your equipment.
You will save money on replacement costs, as your instruments will last longer. You can save time allowing you to concentrate on your patients, while we work on your instruments.You will need less energy and effort as your instruments will have a factory finished cutting edge, a dulled cutting edge could mean procedures take longer.
By removing a minute amount of steel from the original cutting edges using quality linishing belts and diamond wheels, we can give you a cutting edge sharpening stones can never replicate. Once you have packed your instruments and sent them to us we will take care of the rest. Our aim is to have your instruments returned to you and ready to use within two working days.
Any instruments that cannot be re-sharpened will be returned with a recommendation that they be replaced.
Postage & Packaging
We can offer this specialist service at a cost of £2.50 per point for hygienist instruments and £4.00 per Elevator or Luxator and £6 return postage.
All instruments will need to be sterilised before they are dispatched to us.
We would advise that you send your instruments recorded delivery ,all instruments are returned 1st class recorded. Please include a return/invoice address.
We would advise that instruments are packaged securely to ensure points are well protected.
This not only protects the instruments but also provides safety for the courier and our staff.
